The UAB campus is located in Bellaterra,
in the municipal area of Cerdanyola del Vallès, about 20 km from
downtown Barcelona and 25km from Barcelonas El Prat airport. The
campus occupies a surface area of 230 hectares and is fully linked to Barcelona
and the rest of Catalonia by highway, local roads and bus and train services.
The expansion of industrial zones into the Vallès area places UAB at
the center of one of the fastest growing industrial areas in Catalonia and
Southern Europe.

UAB was founded as a pioneer project in
this country, as a campus university had never existed up to then.
As a campus university, UAB offers all the characteristics of
a small city without losing any of the benefits of a large metropolitan area:
housing, restaurants, parks, cultural and leisure activities, sports facilities,
commercial shopping areas, kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, a
health center, meeting facilities and departmental libraries and study centers.
Thanks to its physical characteristics and the quality and diversity of its
facilities, UAB is an ideal center for organizing all kinds
of activities such as congresses, seminars, association meetings, conventions,
professional conferences, summer camps and youth gatherings. It offers educational,
commercial, cultural and leisure services not only to the university population
but also to the population in general.
