
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona
(UAB)
is a public, dynamic and innovative institution whose chief end is to serve
society. This will to serve, united with a decided attitude of openness
to the exterior, has made the University a reference centre on both the
local and international level since its founding in 1968. It is a leader
in the worlds of education and research with over 535 cooperation agreements
with universities and other international organizations on five continents.
The location on campus of high-level research institutions belonging to the
Advanced Center for Scientific Research and the Catalonian
Government, among others, as well as the incorporation of
advanced technology industries into the university complex have turned
UAB into one of the principle scientific-technical concentrations in the
country. It has also become an economic and social motor, facilitating
the development of communal projects and enhancing technological transfer
flows.
The university campuss training and transfer of technology, services
and equipment make it a veritable "city of knowledge".
